If Levi's and IKEA's refusal to join the only legally binding and credible safety programme that protects workers in their supplier factory is sad and ridiculous at the same time. Why not join the one programme that over 200 brands recognise is the best way to protect their workers. We are happy that finally one of the dirty dozen brands has recognised that the Accord is the best method to protect their workers. UK supermarket chain recently signed the programme for its workers in Pakistan (if not yet for Bangladesh!!). What are Levi's, IKEA and the other 9 brands waiting for? Improving working conditions and empowering workers in the global garment industry
About us
Clean Clothes Campaign is a global network dedicated to improving working conditions and empowering workers in the global garment and sportswear industries. Since 1989, CCC has worked to ensure that the fundamental rights of workers are respected. We educate and mobilise consumers, lobby companies and governments, and offer direct solidarity support to workers as they fight for their rights and demand better working conditions. Clean Clothes Campaign brings together trade unions and NGOs covering a broad spectrum of perspectives and interests, such as women’s rights, consumer advocacy and poverty reduction. As a grass-roots network of hundreds of organisations, both in garment-producing and in consumer markets, we can identify local problems and objectives and transform them into global actions. We develop campaign strategies to support workers in achieving their goals. We also cooperate extensively with similar labour rights campaigns.

Yesterday, at its shareholder meeting adidas informed its investors about its wins and losses. But there was a crucial point that they forgot: that there are about 500 workers in Cambodia who were tricked out of their jobs in 2020. The former Hulu Garment workers are still fighting for justice and sent their union representative over to Germany to tell them about their struggle for justice. Adidas had to listen to the workers' story, but is not yet willing to pay yet. So let's keep up the pressure & tell adidas #PayYourWorkers https://lnkd.in/e9e6fqTA

On Thursday, 16 May, adidas will inform its investors about last year's wins and losses at the Annual General Meeting. To ensure that shareholders get the full picture on this day, Sithyneth Ry, a Cambodian union president representing 500 unpaid workers in adidas' supply chain, will travel to Germany to inform investors about the workers' plight. It's high time for adidas to do justice by the workers. #PayYourWorkers

🧐 And, did you guess the right brand? ‼️500 former workers of the Hulu Garment factory in Cambodia have been fighting for their severance for four years! They were denied payment they would have received upon losing their jobs because they were tricked into resigning. They were told they needed to sign their payslips. but instead signed away their jobs and compensation! ✊🏾The union leading representing them is traveling all the way to Germany to urge the company and its shareholders to take responsibility. The workers are owed 1 million USD, peanuts for adidas, but for workers this is the difference between being able to provide for their families or not, the difference between justice and continuing being disregarded by a company that prides itself of being progressive. Tell adidas to do better!! Sign the petition: https://lnkd.in/e9e6fqTA #adidasSteals #PayYourWorkers

No garment worker should ever have to live through what the Ali Enterprises workers lived through in 2012. A deadly fire broke out in a factory without a functioning fire alarm, with blocked exits and no safe escape routes. Over 250 workers died, others were injured jumping from upper floors for lack of a safe way out. The Safety Accord will make factories safe, but only if brands sign up. Why are Levi's & IKEA refusing to #SignTheAccord? Tell them to take action now: https://lnkd.in/eeYv_h-A
